Project Description
Project Aims:

Addressing hunger and healthcare needs in rural New Mexico.

Partnering with NM food banks, mobile healthcare vans, and other community partners.

Using service learning models for college students to promote civic engagement and create role models for rural youth.

UNM main and north campus students who participate in this project can volunteer or gain academic credit in courses relating to their field of study such as preceptorships/clerkship, field experience etc.


The UNM HSC Office for Community Health is partnering with New Mexico food banks, mobile healthcare vans, and other community partners to address hunger and healthcare needs in rural New Mexico. With involvement in this project, you will gain personal & professional experience and development through:

Strengthening Interdisciplinary Relationships
Peer and Faculty Mentorships
Community/Social Networking
Collaborative Leadership Initiatives
