Project Description
For many years, BBER has provided credible estimates of economic and fiscal impacts for decision-making. The work is typically done under contract. BBER has used our FOR-UNM economic forecasting model to estimate economic impacts but now also uses IMPLAN-Pro-2. The work compliments our other research activities; indeed, is often part of a larger project (e.g., Arts and Cultural Industries in Santa Fe).

Provide NM residents and decision-makers with reliable information regarding the economic and fiscal impacts of different projects. Sometimes the results will be used for making decisions about economic incentives (e.g., whether to provide authority for Industrial Revenue Bonds).

BBER has done economic/fiscal impact studies for the Forest Service, the Airforce Research Lab, the City of Albuquerque, UNM, as well as private entities, like Intel, Mustang Energy & La Posada de Albuquerque. We have done these studies on arts and cultural industries (Santa Fe & Albuquerque MSA), on copper mining, on proposed changes in State spending for Medicaid.

Eligibility
BBER depends on contracts and grants to pay for these research efforts.
