Project Description Customized training for business, industry and government entities, offered on campus or at a place of business--to prepare both incumbent and dislocated workers to enter the workforce or to advance in a career.This program was developed to serve the training needs of the current workforce throughout New Mexico. 2005-06 statistics: 29,686 contact hours of workforce training were completed; 2,643 students received training & 188 businesses served Courses are both for-credit and Non-Credit. The following courses are available to meet the needs of area businesses: 1. American Heart Association Training Center CPR & 1st Aid, including Automatic Electronic Defibrillator training 2. Health Occupations: Certified Nursing Assistant Emergency Medical Technician, Basic & Intermediate; Pharmacy Technician; Personal Care Attendant 3. For the Construction Trades: Certified Driver's License (CDL) Class A & Class B Heavy Equipment Operator Training: Loader, Grader, Roller, Backhoe, Dozer, Excavator Carpentry: Drywall Installation & Metal Stud Framing Basic Welding (5 credit hours) National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) 4. For Government and Industry: Supervisory Training (customized to fit your business needs) Microsoft Applications (Word, Excel, Access, Powerpoint, Publisher, Outlook) Conversational Spanish for the Workplace (customized to fit your type of business) Sexual Harassment in the Workplace --and other courses customized to fit the needs of area businesses Eligibility Business determine eligibility for their employees. Much of the training is done by contract and eligibility is specified in each contract. Orientation sessions are held to screen applicants for career interest and drug testing for the construction trades. If funded by WIA (Workforce Investment Act), elibibility must be determined by US Dept. of Labor federal regulations.
