Project Description
This is required course in the graduate program for architecure. We attempt to expand its' pedagogical impact by having the students work with a client on a real design problem that can benefit from their skills, design explorations, and research. Their site analyses, programming documents, and their design drawings, plus preliminary investigations by a professional consultant, will be used to communicate the scope, complexity, and design potential of the Center to the Legislature in the upcoming session. This will aid in securing funding for the Center while insuring input from all user groups. After funding is secured and professsional design services contracted, the student work will provide highly useful background research and ideas for the design team - especially in teh area of environmentally sensitive design.Based upon a wide and continuing range of inputs from the potential users of the proposed Native American cultural Center, the graduate architecture students in the Arch 502 class will develop schematic designs for the proposed Center. We have done a number of similar projects over the last 4 years in this class. For example, in the fall of 2005, we did a comprehensive programming and design study for the Boys & Girls Club of Santa Fe that they will use to help secure funding for the actual project.

Eligibility
