| Project Description Students are mentored by writing professionals in various non-profit, service oriented professional work environments. We also, in several professional writing classes (for example, Engl 418, Proposal Writing), have students complete requirements through work with non-profits. Such work with service learning and community engagement has been a part of our curriculum since its inception in 1984. Students with Professional Writing major and minor concentrations in English intern for a variety of non-profit groups, ranging from the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society to Habitat for Humanity to City of Albuquerque Human Rights Board.
