Project Description
To address community partcipation in energy developemnt at the local small scale. Biodiesel production in an appleseed processor provides a wedge to expose larger geo-political and environmental issues.Biodiesel is a renewable fuel that offers an opportunity to improve air quality, reduce our dependence on foreign oil and shape consciousness concerning the connections between consumption, resource wars, and global environmental devastation. Utilized in an hybrid public transportation network in which trains, buses, bikes and walk routes are integrated, biodiesel provides an immediately workable solution for CO2 emissions reduction.

Objective: Produce biodiesel in an open source AppleSeed Processor and demonstrate this process at schools and in communities. The purpose is to facilitate dialogue and demonstrate the interconnected nature of the sustainability paradigm, while promoting sustainable practice by example. This project instigates community collaborations to connect UNM with the wider New Mexico community.
