Project Description NEXUS: Religion in the Public University is an ongoing series of public lectures on religion, ethics, and spirituality in American society. Lectures are free and open to the public. Each lecture is linked to an intensive dialogue session between congregation-based clergy from diverse religious traditions and university-based scholars from a variety of academic fields. Funded by the Lilly Endowment through the Louisville Institute. Objectives 1. Raise profile of diverse religious traditions as legitimate topic of inquiry and discussion in the intellectual life of the university. 2. Build links between the intellectuals called faculty and the intellectuals called clergy. 3. Break down the perceived chasm between intellectual life and faith communities.
