Project Description
The Advisory Committee was given a number of tasks and issues to prioritize with a view to setting long term, sustainable water policy in the City of Albuquerque and Bernalillo County. Our focus has been on issues of sustainable growth, aquifer restoration, drought planning, acquisition of new supplies and conservation efforts and incentives. We make recommendations to the ABCWUA, which has legislative authority. A number of our recommendations have been enacted. The Advisory Committee was formed by the Albuquerque Bernalillo County Water Utility Authority (ABCWUA) when it enacted Bill R-04-12. The Advisory Committee is charged with recommending policies that address water use in the city and county, the water budget, drought policies and other water management issues for the Utility.

Eligibility
The bill that created the Advisory Committee specified the qualifications for each of the dozen or so members. Several positions were specifically dictated by the language of the bill (eg a hydrologist, a land planner, a professional water manager, etc.)
